Part-Time Boutique Sales Associate

At Preston and James, our Boutique Sales Associate provides personalized customer service, drives sales through product expertise, styling advice, and brand knowledge in an intimate retail environment. Key responsibilities include greeting clients, managing inventory, maintaining visual merchandising standards, and operating the POS system to process transactions efficiently.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Customer Experience: Deliver exceptional, personalized service, building rapport and offering expert styling or product advice to meet client needs.
  • Sales Generation: Drive sales by showcasing product knowledge, cross-selling, upselling, and promoting special promotions, workshops and events in our space.
  • Visual Merchandising: Maintain impeccable store appearance by restocking, organizing, and styling displays as required. 
  • Operations & POS: Accurately process payments, returns, and exchanges using the Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with receiving, unpacking, and tagging new shipments, as well as conducting stock counts.
  • Operational Support: Open and close the store, manage fitting rooms, and maintain a clean, organized environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience: Previous retail, sales, or hospitality experience, preferably in a boutique or fashion environment.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly, welcoming demeanor.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency with POS systems and inventory software.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift, push, or pull inventory, outside signs, decor as required. 
  • Knowledge of handmade or sustainable products/production a plus but not required. 
Work Environment:
  • Service-oriented environment requiring weekend and evening shifts.
  • Focus on relationship-building and creating a high-touch, boutique experience.
